I'm colombian and i was dissapointed that Matthew got so much into drugs in Colombia and he could not write anything nice about Colombia; because he was constantly drunk or on a high. Maybe i am quite in denial about the reality in Colombia but his book continuous to portray the bad image of Colombia. I am sure there are other ways to find what we want in life without getting in such mess. I've heard in a interview of him on ABC that he would like to go back to Colombia what for apart from getting stoned?

i found matt's book to be a fantastic experience. yes he got high on all sorts of wild things in colombia, but there is so much more to his book than that - the music, the festivals, the friends, the rush of life itself! matt embraces the good and bad of the country and of himself and i think that is what is so exciting about his book. i hadn't thought much about colombia before, but now i am interested in going there - and not for the drugs!
